The remotely-triggered bomb hit a convoy of three buses in Mastung district and set one of them ablaze, said Tufail Baluch, a senior government official in the district.
“At least 19 people have been killed and 25 injured. All of them were Shia pilgrims,” he told AFP, adding most of those killed were burnt to death.
“The bomb was planted in a car parked on a road side.The Bomb was about 70 – 80 Kg explosive . The condition of some of the injured is critical,” Baluch said.
Some 180 Shia pilgrims were from different parts of Punjab , and were on their way to the Holy Pilgrimage Sites in Iran when the bomb ripped through one of them, said Akbar Hussain Durrani, a senior government official in Quetta.
As the Remote Control Bomb was detonated , the Bus which was hit directly was completely damaged, and it also caught fire , while the other 2 buses were partially damaged. And the bus which was completely destroyed and even caught fire was carrying some 45 pilgrims , out of which about 35 were burnt , and was shifted to the District Hospital , and was badly damaged, he said.
The Bodies of the 19 Martyred and 9 Injured were shifted by C 130 Plane to Rawalpindi , Holy Family Hospital , where the family members and the Shia community members Protested the Deadly attack , and demanded the Government of the earliest action against the culprits of the Incidents and Capital Punishment to the Criminals behind the Such Terrorism .
14 other Injured are admitted in the CMH Hospital and are Undertreatment, out of which some are even in the critical Conditions ,for which their friends and family members have requested for prayers from all the community members.
The names of some of the Injured are Syed Waqas, Wasi Haider , Major Nasir Raza , Mohd. Nawaz, Ghulam Abbas, Shafeeq, Farhat Manzoor, Tariq Ali , Shahzad , Jaffar Raza, Sajjad Ali , Mohd Iqbal, Mohd Ishaq, Pervaiz, Kulsoom, Musarrat , Safeer Ali , Mohd. Liaqat , Mohd. Saleem, Yasir Shah, Saleem , Tahira.
The Rest of about 90 Shia Pilgrims who were Brought back from Mastung to Quetta were provided Boarding & lodging facilities at the Houses of Shia Community Members residing in the Alamdar Road Area , while the arrangements were made for these dedicated Shia Pilgrims , so that they can carry on their Piligrimage to Iran.
Mastung is some 30km south of Quetta. And this is the Only route through which Pakistan connects the to the Irani Border for travelling by road to Iran’s Border city of Taftan city to cross into Iran to reach the Holy sites in Iran to perform pilgrimage.
