JNN 10 June 2013 Brussels : The European Union’s interior ministers have convened in Luxembourg to address the emerging threat of the European militants who return from Syria after gaining experience in the ongoing fight against the Syrian government.
There are big worries in many EU nations that European extremists returning from Syria after fighting alongside foreign-backed militants will use new training and knowledge to set off terrorist attacks in their home countries across Europe, The Associated Press reported on Friday.
EU’s anti-terror chief Gilles de Kerchove said on Wednesday that EU ministers will also discuss ways to bar European extremists from leaving their countries to join Wahabi Takfiri terrorists in Syria.
The EU official said he expected members to keep more personal data on suspicious travel, urging more aggressive attitudes in dealing with extremist social media.
“We never had the sort of travel of jihadists on that scale,” Kerchove said.
Unrest has plagued Syria since March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of government forces, have been killed in the violence.
The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and it has also been confirmed after the re capture of a vast areas from these terrorist Networks , where hundreds of terrorist have been Killed and others are arrested , which confirms the reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.
More than 600 European nationals, including 120 from France, are fighting in Syria, French Interior Minister Manuel Valls told Al Arabiya on Friday.
Valls said the “the phenomenon of European fighters in Syria forms a serious and big terrorist and security challenge.”
He said many of those jihadists are fighting alongside groups to al-Qaeda, warning that their return could jeopardize the security of their home countries.
European Union states have agreed on Friday to cooperate in making sure that their citizens fighting in Syria do not veer into terrorism after they return to their countries, the Associated Press reported.
EU interior ministers pledged to raise the surveillance of social media, strengthen co-operation with neighboring states such as Turkey and demanded the European Parliament approve a legislation that will enable securities to trace suspicious travels to the Middle East.
Now the Western officials are disturbed by the growing use of English-language recruitment of Islamic extremists online, especially from the UK to Syria. They fear the return of new English-speaking recruits to the EU to plot attacks at home or in the US.
European intelligence sources revealed that up to 60-70 people have left Britain to join in the Terrorist Networks to fight against the Syrian government, Reuters reported.
They have also noted an increase in the number of Internet messages directed at potential English-speaking terrorists in the UK to join in the fight against Syria’s government.
Both the US and EU security officials confirm that there has been a growing number of English-language recruitment videos and online content, which is proving successful in luring dozens of English-speaking Muslims from their homes in Europe to travel to the Middle East and fight in places such as Syria.
As it was in the interest of these Western and US Government and they wanted high number of recruits , so they encouraged it by not curbing it , even as they have the total control of all the web contents and web activities , but still they let it happen , just to create chaos and insurgency in the Middle Eastern and African countries , as these conflicts are in the interest of these western countries and US , as with this they can uphold their hegemonic Policies in these region, as now with the bickering EU and US economy , they have no other way to keep control on the Middle Eastern Arab countries and African and South asian countries .
Even though the US and EU policy supports anti-Assad forces, the problem arises when English-speaking recruits join the extreme, anti-Western Syrian rebel factions, become terrorists and then return home, stated officials.
The majority of those who already left UK to fight in Syria have joined the militant anti-Assad terrorist Groups , known as Al-Nusra, which the US has named a terrorist group connected with Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Reuters reported
Increase in English-language recruitment tactics
An increase in English-content videos and online messages has been reported by security officials in the US and the EU.
Last week a Wahabi Jihadist website controlled by an Islamic militant group based in Somalia, al Shabaab, posted a new video of a man speaking English and calling himself Abu Ahmed al-Amriki (Arabic for ‘the American’), counterterrorism blog the Long War Journal reported.
In the video Abu Ahmed calls upon all Muslims living in the West to give up their lives there and join the Islamic holy war in Somalia, Mali and Afghanistan. The identity of the man in the video remains unknown.
In February another man posted a second of two video messages calling himself an “American mujahid [holy warrior]” and praising his involvement with rebels fighting against the Syrian government, stated a group that monitors militant websites, the Flashpoint Global Partners.
“Bashar Assad, your days are numbered,” the man speaking in English with an American accent is quoted as saying, referring to Syria’s president. “You should just quit now, while you can, and leave. You are going to die, no matter what. Where you go we will find you and kill you.”
US officials also noted an increase in English-language online literature, which calls on wannabe terrorists to turn to violence and provides instructions on how to use household items to cause damage and death.
“We’ve been monitoring [these developments] and yes, it’s concerning,” Deputy Commissioner and spokesman of the New York Police Department Paul Browne told Reuters.
This past week, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) released two English-language publications in its ‘Inspire’ magazine targeting aspiring holy warriors.
The first piece is a death list, which names selected Westerners and includes prominent figures, such as the anti-Islamic Dutch politician Geert Wilders, and the Koran-burning Florida preacher Terry Jones.
The other publication is a rulebook, ‘The Lone Mujahid Pocketbook’, which explains how to cause traffic accidents, deadly ambushes, gas leaks, destroy buildings and start forest fires in your own country.
The publication asks the reader: “Have u been lookin’ 4 a way to join the Mujahideen in frontlines? Well, there’s no need to travel abroad, coz the frontline has come to you… Just read ‘n’ apply the contents of this guide.”
Recruitment tactics have also made headway in social media.
The Al-Qaeda-linked Shabaab militia from South Somalia began tweeting in English and gained more than 20,000 subscribers by the time Twitter closed its account in January. As the group set-up a new account, it gained 2,000 followers in a week in February.
With these all recruitements and leniency by the US and EU Government to let these terrorist Networks florish , as they first did with the Al Qaida and Taliban , which were even on their Pay roll list , but after wards the Lower cadre of even these Organizations , which was unaware of their Leaders conspiracy against their own People , who used them as Mercenaries in the Name of Jihad , and filled up their Pockets with Huge some of Money, but the Lower cadre is now a real anti US and West Branded terrorists , which have now grown up and have become leaders of their own factions .
And now these self acclaimed Terrorist Networks , which are now even returned to Europe and US after completing their Missions in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya and Somalia , are a Potential threat for in their Western Homelands , as they Nothing But Master in terrorism , and it is not far away that as these Individuals form again their Networks , back in their Homeland , they will be lethal war machines , recruiting the already Jobless European , which already wanted a revolution to over throw the Imperialistic and Capitalistic Governments .
