The imam Yüksel Kılıçaslan found the holy Quran and some tafsir (the interpretation of the Quran) books which was being kept in a prayer rug and immediately reported Bodrum’s Mufti Emin Arık.
Unfolding his find the Imam found handwriting and ornamental elements. It is noteworthy that the manuscript is at least 1,200 years old.
“On the basis of handed report the manuscript was given to the preliminary examination in the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology,” the religious board reported.
“The imam of the mosque is also informed about his discovery officials in Ankara in order to subsequently pass on the discovery in one of the specialized agencies”.
After a series of examinations by historians, it has been confirmed that the Quran dated back more than a thousand year.
